cTrader is a trading platform, not a broker. For a UK trader, the useful comparison is therefore not simply which firms display the cTrader logo, but which legal entity serves UK clients, whether that entity is FCA-authorised, what the total trading cost is, how orders are handled, and which cTrader features are actually enabled for the relevant account. The current UK shortlist below was checked on 29 September 2026 and should be reverified before publication or account opening.
| Quick definition | What it means |
|---|---|
| cTrader broker | A broker that provides one or more trading accounts that can be accessed through the cTrader platform. The broker, not cTrader, sets the legal relationship, pricing, instruments, execution policy and account terms. |
Which cTrader brokers are available to UK traders?
As of 29 September 2026, cTrader’s UK comparison page surfaces FxPro, Pepperstone and Varianse among UK-focused options. That directory is useful for discovery, but cTrader itself warns that broker information may be incomplete or outdated. UK eligibility and regulation therefore need a second check against each broker’s own legal pages and the relevant regulatory record.
| Broker | UK legal entity | FCA FRN | cTrader for UK clients | Current primary-source note | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pepperstone | Pepperstone Limited | 684312 | Yes | UK cTrader page states all Pepperstone account types are compatible with cTrader. | 29 Sep 2026 |
| FxPro | FxPro UK Limited | 509956 | Yes | FxPro lists cTrader as a supported platform and identifies FxPro UK Limited as FCA-authorised. | 29 Sep 2026 |
| Varianse | VDX Ltd | 802012 | Yes, but verify account scope | Varianse identifies VDX Ltd as its FCA-regulated UK entity and cTrader as a supported platform. | 29 Sep 2026 |
Verification note: Do not treat a group-level licence or a global cTrader directory entry as proof that a specific UK resident will be onboarded under that entity with the same products and features. Eligibility can change by residence, client classification and account type.
How to check FCA regulation and the correct UK legal entity
FCA authorisation belongs to the financial firm or legal entity, not to the cTrader platform. A broker can operate several regulated entities, and the entity shown on a global website may not be the entity that contracts with a UK retail client. For current entity details, compare the broker’s own legal information, such as Pepperstone legal documents, FxPro licences and Varianse regulation information.
- Find the legal entity in the broker’s UK footer, terms, client agreement or account-opening flow.
- Search the exact entity name on the FCA Firm Checker or Financial Services Register and match the Firm Reference Number.
- Check that the permissions shown are relevant to the service being offered.
- Confirm that cTrader is available under the UK-serving entity or account, rather than only under another group company.
- If client protection is discussed, distinguish Financial Ombudsman Service or FSCS eligibility from protection against ordinary trading losses.
Important: cTrader availability does not make a broker FCA-regulated. Conversely, an FCA-authorised broker may offer different platforms or account features in different jurisdictions.
Compare cTrader trading costs: spread, commission and financing
The lowest advertised spread is not necessarily the lowest trading cost. For background on the distinction, see our forex spread guide. A fair comparison should put spread and commission on the same basis, use the same account type and trade size, and then consider overnight financing, currency conversion and execution differences separately.
Pepperstone provides a useful current example because its UK pricing page publishes both minimum and average FX spreads for August 2026. On the Razor CFD account, the page shows an average EUR/USD spread of 0.1 pip and a cTrader commission of £2.25 per standard lot per side for a GBP account. FxPro states through its cTrader commission information that cTrader and Raw+ accounts charge $3.50 per lot per side on FX and metals, while spreads are variable. These figures are broker-published terms, not a prediction of the cost any individual trade will receive.
| Broker/account example | Spread information | Commission basis | What still needs checking |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pepperstone Razor CFD | EUR/USD average 0.1 pip for Aug 2026; min 0.0 | GBP account: £2.25 per standard lot per side | Live spread, swap, conversion, slippage and account eligibility |
| FxPro cTrader | Floating; broker states spreads can start from 0 | USD 3.50 per lot per side on FX/metals; broker also expresses this as USD 35 per USD 1m traded | Current pair-specific average spread, swap, conversion and UK account terms |
| Varianse UK | Not normalised here because comparable UK cTrader average-spread data was not confirmed in the sources checked | Verify current UK pricing schedule before comparison | Account type, commission basis, spread methodology, funding and execution terms |
Worked example: why all-in cost matters
Consider two hypothetical cTrader brokers for one standard lot of EUR/USD. Broker A averages a 0.2-pip spread and charges USD 3 per side, so the round-turn commission is USD 6. Using an illustrative pip value of USD 10, the commission is 0.6 pip, making the spread-plus-commission figure 0.8 pip. Broker B averages a 0.7-pip spread and charges no commission, so its comparable figure is 0.7 pip.
In this simplified example, Broker B has the lower spread-plus-commission figure even though Broker A advertises the lower spread. The calculation excludes slippage, overnight financing, currency conversion and changing market conditions, so it does not establish that either broker is better overall or predict profitability.
Compare execution, slippage and depth of market
Execution should be compared through the broker’s actual order-execution policy and dated metrics, not by assigning unsupported labels such as ECN or STP. Our forex broker reviews provide a broader framework for comparing broker-level conditions. Slippage is the difference that can occur between the requested and executed price, while spread is the difference between bid and ask. They are related costs but not the same thing.
cTrader’s depth-of-market documentation describes three views: Standard DOM, Price DOM and VWAP DOM. Standard DOM displays available liquidity by price level, Price DOM adds order entry and position management, and VWAP DOM shows expected volume-weighted average prices for adjustable volumes. Displayed depth is useful market information, but it is not a guarantee that a trade will fill at every displayed level or without slippage.
Compare cTrader features: cBots, algo, copy and apps
Platform-level capability and broker-level availability are different questions. cTrader supports web, desktop and mobile access, cBots, cTrader Algo and cTrader Copy, but a broker or account may restrict or configure some functions differently. For a wider platform-selection framework, see our forex trading platforms guide.
| Feature | What cTrader provides | What to verify with the broker/account |
|---|---|---|
| Web / desktop / mobile | Cross-device cTrader applications and cTID-linked access | Which applications the broker supports for the relevant account |
| cBots / cTrader Algo | Automated programs that can analyse markets, place orders and manage rules; cloud instances can run across supported apps | Instrument access, account restrictions, execution environment and whether the intended cBot permissions are acceptable |
| cTrader Copy | Integrated copy-trading infrastructure using separate copy accounts and broker-assigned membership | Whether Copy is enabled for the UK entity/account, whether live and demo access differ, and strategy/instrument restrictions |
| Depth of market | Standard DOM, Price DOM and VWAP DOM | Whether depth is available for the intended instrument and what the displayed liquidity represents |
cBots and cTrader algo
cBots are automated programs that can open, modify and close positions according to coded rules. Our automated forex trading guide covers the wider strategy and implementation context, while cTrader’s cBot documentation describes cloud and local instances. Cloud cBots are available across supported mobile, web, Windows and Mac apps, while local instances run on Windows or Mac. Backtests and optimisation remain historical tests and do not show how a strategy will perform in future market conditions.
cTrader copy
cTrader Copy is an integrated social-trading system in which an investor allocates funds to a separate copy account and trades are replicated from a strategy provider according to cTrader’s copying model. Broker membership settings affect what an account can copy. This means a broker can support cTrader without necessarily giving every UK account unrestricted cTrader Copy access. Verify the exact UK account rather than assuming the feature is enabled from the platform brand alone.
Deposits, withdrawals and account setup
Operational terms can matter as much as platform features. Check the minimum funding amount, supported base currencies, deposit methods, withdrawal fees, stated processing framework and any currency conversion charge. For example, Pepperstone’s UK account information currently states a £10 minimum funding amount for its spread-betting and CFD accounts, while its fee information says deposits and most withdrawals do not carry an additional Pepperstone fee, with an exception for international bank-wire withdrawals. These terms can change and should be reconfirmed at the account level. For broader context on the broker, see our Pepperstone review.
- Prefer GBP as an account base currency only when it suits your funding and trading needs; it does not eliminate conversion costs on all instruments.
- Check whether the cTrader account type you want is available as CFD, spread betting, or both.
- Verify whether a demo account mirrors the live feature set you intend to use.
- Treat published withdrawal times as processing frameworks, not guaranteed arrival times.
How to compare cTrader copy brokers
For cTrader Copy, start with availability rather than strategy performance. First verify that the relevant UK account has Copy access. Then check membership type, eligible instruments, minimum allocation or strategy conditions, and whether demo and live accounts differ. Provider and investor results can diverge because of execution timing, prices, leverage, available instruments and account conditions.
The cTrader UK comparison page currently marks Pepperstone, FxPro and Varianse as having Copy available, but cTrader also states that its broker data may be incomplete or outdated. In addition, Varianse published a September 2026 cTrader Copy notice stating that the copy-trading service described there is offered by its Mauritius entity. For a UK reader, that makes entity-level verification essential before treating a directory badge as proof of UK Copy availability.
How to choose between cTrader brokers without relying on one metric
- Verify the exact UK legal entity, FCA status and whether it currently accepts the relevant client type.
- Confirm that cTrader is available on the account and for the products you intend to compare.
- Compare total trading cost using average or representative spreads where possible, plus normalised commission.
- Review the broker’s execution policy, order handling and any dated execution metrics rather than relying on marketing labels.
- Confirm required cTrader features, especially cBots, cTrader Algo, cTrader Copy and depth of market.
- Compare funding, withdrawal, minimum deposit and account-currency terms.
- Recheck every volatile field immediately before opening an account because pricing, features and eligibility can change.
There is no single cTrader broker that is objectively best for every UK trader. The meaningful comparison depends on the legal entity, account type, instruments, cost structure and platform functions required. Lower cost also does not mean lower trading risk: retail FX and CFD products are leveraged and can produce rapid losses. For comparison beyond cTrader-specific firms, use our forex broker review hub.

Frequently asked questions
Is cTrader a broker?
No. cTrader is a trading platform and ecosystem. The broker provides the trading account, legal entity, pricing, execution, instruments and client relationship. A broker can offer cTrader without sharing the same regulation or account terms as another cTrader broker.
Which cTrader brokers accept UK clients?
As of 29 September 2026, current primary-source checks support Pepperstone, FxPro and Varianse as UK-focused cTrader options, but the exact legal entity, client eligibility and account availability should be reverified before opening an account.
How can I check whether a cTrader broker is FCA regulated?
Find the exact legal entity in the broker’s UK terms or footer, then match that entity and its Firm Reference Number on the FCA Firm Checker or Financial Services Register. Do not rely on the broker group name or cTrader availability alone.
Are cTrader spreads the same at every broker?
No. cTrader does not standardise broker pricing. Spreads, commissions, overnight financing, currency conversion and other charges depend on the broker, account type, instrument and market conditions.
Can I use cBots with every cTrader broker?
cBots are part of the cTrader ecosystem, but the relevant broker/account, supported instruments and any restrictions should be checked. Historical backtests or optimisation results do not guarantee future performance.
Is cTrader Copy available with every cTrader broker?
No assumption should be made from the platform name alone. cTrader Copy access can depend on broker membership, account type, jurisdiction and available instruments, so the exact UK account should be verified before relying on the feature.
What is the best broker for cTrader in the UK?
There is no universal best choice. Compare the exact UK legal entity and FCA status first, then total trading costs, execution policy, cTrader features and funding terms on the account you would actually use. Different use cases can lead to different shortlists.
